Paragon - Thermocouple S-Type
Made from platinum and platinum-rhodium alloy, the Type S Thermocouples cover a temperature range of 0 °C to 1450 °C with high accuracy over most of the range. Used in ceramic and glass kilns which are fired consistently at temperatures over 1000 °C.
If you are are firing regularly at over 1000 °C. you will save money in the long term by installing a Type S which has a much longer life at elevated temperatures than a K Type.
