Once again, we are very pleased to be able to offer you the opportunity to join the very engaging Dr Julie Anne Denton in her Swiss studio as she demonstrates her methods for creating detailed personal signature murrini via Zoom video link.

The signature cane workshop covers all the techniques involved with making your own letter canes to ultimately create a signature to adorn your beads or sculpture. You will learn how to create large letters in the style of your choice in soft glass, which will be pulled down in the flame and then assembled and joined together hot to construct your final signature cane.

Techniques include

Producing your own letter canes, hot assembly of components, use of borosilicate as a punty rod, seeing and controlling the temperature in your glass, seeing in abstraction, tool use, and the correct application of your signature cane thereafter. There will be two 2 hour live zoom sessions on a Saturday & Sunday in mid-September, and x1 ‘one on one’ 15 minute troubleshooting consultation with Julie to help you with any trouble areas you may be experiencing.

Skill Level

Own torch/access to flameworking studio essential. Prior experience in flameworking or beadmaking is helpful, its even better if you have completed a Julie 1: Animals in soft glass course.

*Whilst Julie will be demonstrating using Effetre (moretti) glass, you can use your own glass of choice which best compliments the CoE of your usual work as may wish to use the murrini to 'sign' your work.
