Tapestry in Glass with Richard Parrish
6-9 October 2016 (Thursday/Sunday)
Richard Parrish's Tapestry bowls, trays, and wall panels are widely recognized for their intricate patterning and colouration. The Tapestry pieces rely on colour relationships, design, and technique for success. This workshop explores how Parrish develops an original idea into a comprehensive line of studio glasswork.
Workshop participants will make two finished pieces as a means of learning the major techniques as well as the subtleties of colour use and pattern making. The first piece will introduce the basics. The second piece will be carried through from beginning to end to understand the importance of well-made and well-finished work.
In addition to learning how Parrish makes his Tapestry pieces, participants will be introduced to ways of developing new work from an original idea, supported by design and technical knowledge, to create pieces with a strong individual expression.
