6-8 May 2015 - Sculptural Glass with Imagery - Gail Stouffer
Sculptural Glass with Imagery with Gail Stouffer - USA
6-8 May 2015 (Wed-Fri)
Take your fused glass beyond the bowl! It’s time to create light catching sculptures that touch the heart and communicate to the soul. It doesn’t matter if you are going for a loose abstract design, or a crisp photographic image, you’ll learn how to make it happen in this exciting new workshop. Each new skill and technique can be applied to small work as well as larger projects, making this a “don’t miss” class!
The main focus of this workshop will be in the development and printing of images in transparent, glass sculptures, allowing you to expand your skills and evolve your own personal imagery.
Students will learn a high-tech, “no-fuss” modern screen-printing technique that is attainable in any studio. You will work with photo manipulation software, perfect paint (Color Line) and powder (Bullseye) applications, applying direct painting techniques to our imagery on multiple layers of glass. The individual layers will then be fired, stacked and fired again to create thick slabs of transparent glass.
Furthermore, the subjects of finishing, coldworking and presentation of the sculpture on a steel base will also be covered.
Project: 1 transparent sculptural block
Skill Level: Some experience in Glass Fusing or Casting necessary
