19-21 April 2018 - DropOut Technique and Reactive Effects - Erna Piechna
Drop Out Techniques and Reactive Effects with Erna Piechna
19-21 April 2018 (Thursday-Saturday) Duration: 2.7 days
In this class Erna Piechna presents the basics of the method which she learned from Amanda Simmons - the creation of deep vessels, vases and goblets – achieving results only normally achieved by glass blowing. The process encompasses the preparation of the blank, the controlled drop-out firing, the separation of the ‘collar’ (by hand) plus the grinding and polishing of the base and rim.
The colour work focuses on the reactions which take place when specific glasses and metals are combined and the ‘chemistry’ that results.
This is a field of experimentation without boundaries, where you will learn which products are especially interesting and how you can coax the glass to produce fantastic results
Projects
Two vessels plus reference samples.
