Modern Glass Painting Techniques with Joseph Cavalieri - USA

2-5 March 2016 (Wednesday-Saturday)

So you think you can’t paint?  Or maybe you can? Either way this workshop is a must!

The emphasis of this class, taught by New York artist Joseph Cavalieri, is to learn, practice and experiment with contemporary painting methods, attempting to emulate Cavalieri’s own work.  The result; a multi-part painted panel finished the Tiffany way in just 4 days!

Contrary to classical glass painting, we can now choose from a number of different painting techniques, each of them creating a different expression: Paint brush or quill (dip) pens for the strong gesture, shadows and softer effects with air brushing, and silk-screen for the transfer of graphics and photos. The fun part comes when we combine these processes into one work of art. The main project is a panel composed of sections created using these diverse painting methods and then joined together utilising the Tiffany technique. Joseph Cavalieri is open to all possible input from the attending students with one exception - no butterfly designs please!
