20-22 Jan 2014 - Powder Printing on Glass with Kathryn Wightman
Powder Printing on Glass with Kathryn Wightman - New Zealand
20-22 Jan 2014 (Mon-Wed)
In this 3-day workshop, you can create unique patterns and images with glass, using both screen printing and kilnforming techniques. Students will learn the basics of photoshop and/or illustrator to develop patterns and explore how to transfer them on to glass. Both the screen printing process and the technique of layering powdered glass to create low relief textural prints will be covered.
‘Powder Printing’ involves the dry transfer of fine Bullseye powder through a medium fine screen, on which the image has been transferred by exposure to UV-light.
Not only does this facilitate the transfer of images directly onto glass but it can also be used to create separate wafer thin components to integrate into the glass in a second step.
Skill Level– Prior experience in fusing / casting is advantageous.
