Art Clay and Glass Riveting - a Sleek Solution with Erna Piechna

In the first part of this class you will discover how an ordinary piece of glass can be transformed into a sophisticated jewellery element by using high firing enamels, diamond engraving tools, stamps etc.

In the next stage you will design and make an Art Clay component to compliment the glass element, creating a dialogue between the two materials.

The challenging part will be to develop a way to join the glass and Art Clay into a wearable piece of jewellery. You will learn how to drill holes in the glass and how to combine it with the Art Clay part using a fine silver rivet. The rivet not only allows you to join ‘foreign’ materials, but it can also be a relevant element in your jewellery design.
